iPhone 6 sales are an all time high and Apple has realized there can’t be a better time to push its next flagship device, the iPhone 7. Apple is doing whatever it can to stir up the rumors on the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. New rumors have reached the shore that suggest the design of iPhone 6 will be reprised on the two upcoming phones. The screen sizes iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch respectively.
The camera of iPhone 7 will be redesigned. It will have two lenses instead of one. The dual lens feature will be new and much similar to the one in HTC One M8. Reportedly, the redesigned camera will also bear resemblance with Honor 6 Plus from Huawei. Shots will be taken at zoom function and the sensor of the camera will be able to absorb increased amount of light.
At the CES Expo of this year, some exciting gizmos were showcased. One of them was ZenFone Zoom by Asus. Devices like the ZenFone Zoom hopes to cash in on the zoom functionality of their camera. Will iPhone 7 also join their rank. We don’t know that yet but an optical zoom doesn’t ring true because protruding lenses will be required for that. Already there are zoom designs to fit in Smartphones but they probably won’t iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus because of their thin bodies.
Some alternatives to optical zoom does exist, but whether or not Apple will give them a shot is not yet known. Besides, those alternatives such as lossless zoom options might be under the scanner at this moment and not ready for mass production.
Other than an improved and redesigned camera, the next iPhone will sport an innovative feature. The new feature will be a 3D pressure sensor. Those with strong memory should be able to remember the main selling point of iOS 8 was Healthkit, a hub that integrates individual health apps and deliver better insights to health professionals. The 3D pressure sensor will work in tandem with the health app.
The 3D pressure sensor will work in quite a fascinating way. If iPhone 7 and its variants indeed comes with this impressive feature, they will beat other contemporary phones hands down. Normal touch sensors have two axis points which are X and Y. A new axis Z will be added to them. The new axis will make it easy to measure pulse and blood pressure. Nevertheless, we don’t know if users will be able to control it because if they can and turn it off, then there will be little difference between iPhone 6 and 7.
Apple has reportedly been testing the water for introducing the 3D technology to consumer space. A report published on an Asian website informs us Apple is currently working on naked eye 3D screen, which the company believe will become the biggest selling point of its next generation iPhone. The rumored 3D pressure sensor might very well be the first step taken toward that direction.
The name of the next iPhone is not yet decided. Some are saying it will be iPhone 7 while some believe it will be iPhone 6S instead as it will be mostly similar to iPhone 6. We need to wait few more months to have all our doubts resolved.
