The news about the new iPhone 7 and it’s features have spread widely ever since the company has announced the launch of the product. However, along with the news, rumors have also been widely flared up regarding the product and the features of it. Rumors had spread regarding every possible thing about the product, from its probable name, its release date to its looks, features and even materials. Apart from these pre-release rumors, there were more of them even post the release, regarding the features of the new iPhone 7.
Regarding the function and looks of the new iPhone 7 and its accessories, the most heard rumors of Iphone 7 were regarding the make of its ear phones, the size of the display, and the better battery life it would supposedly have. The flimsy white earphones that remains bundled with the iPhones, are often complained about their tinny sound quality and poor durability, were rumoured to be displaced by a new set. This rumor was spread by a video, on a Vietnamese website. Here the alleged ear phones looked like horse’s head shaped, with a more stream-lined profile, the white plastics surrounding the speakers.
Next, there was the rumor about the screen size of the iPhone 7 being changed to 4.6” as opposed to the old 3.5” setup. If that had to be achieved, the size of the entire iPhone had to be increased considerably, and that was included in the rumor. Again, there were options that Apple would try and accommodate the bigger screen within the former size of the gadget. Also, the problem with the LTE was that, it “ravages battery life”. Hence the thickness of the iPhone would be increased to accommodate a bigger and better battery that would efficiently handle faster networks, said another rumor.
The shatter-prone iPhone, would likely have a change in its building material, it was rumored. The new iPhone would be encased in “Liquidmetal”. An alloy of Titanium, Zirconium, Nickel, Copper and other such metals, this amorphous alloy can be poured into any mould to produce very thin sheets, and when cooled, the metal has a smooth surface like liquid, and would hold a high resistance to wear against scratching and denting. However, Liquidmetal being not so good for radio frequencies, the rumor had certain doubts to it.
The previous iPhones, for their special touch screen effect, had two layers on them, an LCD layer on the inside, and a touch sensor layer above it. A widespread rumor had it that the new phone will consolidate the two layers into one. Not only does this, get the iPhone to get thinner, but, also, improves the quality of the displayed images. Also, lesser lights mean lowered power consumption, being a boon for the battery life.
Apart from these many pre-launch rumors, there were more, even after the release. These rumors mainly targeted the features of the iPhone 7. One feature name Siri, will allegedly disable another feature, named Find My iPhone via Airplane Mode. Also, a widespread video featured iPhone 7 to be waterproof, which led to many users destroying their gadgets. With so many news about the new gadget, it was easy for these rumors to widely prevail. However, once spotted, Apple made it a point to expunge all of them as quickly as possible.
